My name is Mike and for over 30 years, I have been teaching and performing music right here in the suburban Philadelphia area, establishing Upper Merion Music in 2008 to provide high-quality, private music instruction. My goal is simple: to make music accessible, engaging, and deeply rewarding for every student.
Whether I am helping an advanced guitarist master a complex rock solo or introducing a 7-year-old to their very first song or five-finger pattern on the piano, my approach is straightforward: patience over high-pressure perfectionism. Music should be a source of focus and personal enjoyment, not a stressful weekly chore, so I customize every lesson to match the student’s unique interests and learning style. My priority is to be a reliable, patient mentor who meets you or your child exactly where you are.
Real-World Experience
I studied at the Berklee College of Music and have performed extensively as a live gigging and session guitarist. As a composer, I have written over 40 original tracks placed globally on networks including ABC, FOX, ESPN, and Disney. My priority is to bring that real-world industry knowledge directly to my students, giving them a rock-solid structural foundation in a completely relaxed, encouraging environment.
